We just finished our 7 day rogue like challenge game Hook & Shield.
The 7DRL is a week long gam jam that centers around the rogue like design which is based on the original game Rogue released in 1980. Rogue likes (games similar to the game rogue) have a few design constraints that make them a “game like rogue”. The main properties are turn based, played on a grid, randomly generated levels and a focus on turn based combat.
With Hook & Shield we focused on the tactical combat aspect and came up with a semi-original concept that takes inspiration from Hoplite and Auro. The player has no active attack but can push (via the shield) or pull (via the hook) enemies and move them into lava or spiked walls to kill them.
The game is playable in the browser (WebGL) and was mainly developed with a focus on the mobile platform. The fabulous Mexer has once again proofed his awesomeness with providing a logo for Hook & Shield.
